This process is the selective removal of dead, diseased, broken or weakly attached branches. There is also a danger with deadwood that pieces which may break off could put pedestrians or children at risk, therefore it is worthwhile to remove deadwood early to minimise any risk.

The deadwooding process with in turn increase the health of the tree for years to come.
